Accreditation of Training Centres
IFE Canada Branch recognizes that there is an ever growing pool of resources for training and education in fire engineering, fire protection, firefighting and their related studies. The IFE is proud to support all initiatives of continuous professional development and maintaining a relationship with emerging methods, technologies and ideas in all professions within our industry.
Through our Accreditation Process, the Institution of Fire Engineers Canada Branch is able to provide a seal testifying to the quality of courses, training providers and methods. A course/training program bearing the seal of the IFE is an accreditation to the quality of these key aspects and is recognized as being in line with the expectations and standards of the IFE.
The Institution of Fire Engineers Canada Branch is proud to accredit the Greater Toronto Airports Authority's Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI). This centre is a major provider of training and evaluation of professional firefighters in Ontario as well as individuals and organizations from around the world. They have seen the benefit of accreditation with the Institution of Fire Engineers and are able to provide a certified high level of training equivalent to the industry's most accepted standards.
As the Institution of Fire Engineers continues to grow its accreditation process, we are looking forward to bringing other major centres on board in the near future. The Institution of Fire Engineers Canada Branch aims to be at the helm of fire service training in Canada over the coming years as many fire departments and Provinces transition into new formats and standards. The accreditation process ensures fire departments continue to provide the highest level of training to their employees and private centres are producing graduates with the expected level of competencies the fire service and their communities deserve through this transition and forward.
Bringing your fire service or training centre on board should be a priority for your training department. Become an accredited centre with the IFE Canada Branch and prepare to join some of the most respected providers in the industry.
Endorsements, Accreditation, or Approval Policy
The Accreditation Process Document lays down the Institution of Fire Engineers Canada Branch Policy for the accreditation or approval of courses and training providers. These procedures are set out for the use of the accreditation teams when carrying out accreditations or approvals for and on behalf of the Branch. They are designed to provide the accreditation teams with the necessary guidance and advice needed to make recommendations on the quality and standard of applications for accreditation or approval. The procedures have been structured for ‘internal’ use and only for those courses requiring accreditation for equivalency with IFE Examinations and/or approval by the Branch.
