Welcome to The Institution of Fire Engineers Canada Branch

The Canada Branch (previously known as Ontario Branch) was inaugurated on
June 1, 1994 by the International President at the then Fire Fighters Club in Markham.
Over the years we have expanded our membership base and we now have members in every province of Canada.
The IFE Canada Branch holds an Annual General Meeting once a year where
members can voice their opinion and when Officials are inaugurated for the
forthcoming year.

History of the Canada Branch

  • 1990 - Founding of Ontario Branch
  • 1994 - Registration with Ontario Government as a Not-for-profit organization under the name of IFE Ontario Branch
  • 1994 - Inauguration of Ontario Branch
  • 2003 - Incorporation of Canada Branch
  • 2009 - Renaming with Ontario Government under the name of IFE Canada Branch

  • Professional Standard Setting Body, Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs
  • Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council
  • CFO designation Review Body appointed by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs
  • ULC Standards Committee on Standard for the Commissioning of Building Fire Protection Systems

Canada Branch President's message

I love winter in Canada, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area. The DJs at the radio stations and anchors of TV channels keep reminding us to take it easy under the weather conditions, drive carefully and with patience, and also keep giving us hope for a couple of bright sunny warmer days ahead. OTTAWA F·I·R·E· 2010 SYMPOSIUM

“MOVING FORWARD” May 17 – May 21st 2010

The Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association in partnership with the Ottawa Fire Services, the National Research Council of Canada and Carleton University’s Industrial Chair in Fire Safety Engineering will host the Symposium in Ottawa at Carleton University. The partners in this endeavour seek to examine the issues facing the fire service through relationships, education, discovery and advocacy.More information
