Member Grade (MIFireE)
Applicants for the Member Grade will have achieved the IFE's Level 4 Certificate or have relevant academic qualifications at the level of an Honours Degree in a fire related subject or other recognized educational program.
Applicants will demonstrate dedication to growth and development over the two years prior to application through evidence of relevant and sufficient Continuing Professional Development courses and seminars.
Applicants will also provide an Initial Professional Development (IPD) report along with their application.

- Their ability to apply appropriate theory and practice to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain products, equipment, processes, systems, and services

- The use of effective communication and interpersonal skills
- They have made a personal commitment to adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct
Mature Candidate Route
Fire engineers without the formal academic qualifications necessary for the grade of Member may submit an application via the Mature Candidate Route. Applicants will be required to demonstrate 12 years of increasing responsibility in fire engineering and, by submitting a technical paper, that they have achieved a standard of competence comparable to contemporaries who achieved the Member Grade by academic achievement. How long will it take before my application is accepted?
The Applications Panel in Canada sits approximately every four to six weeks. We will review your application and if complete, will forward it on to the UK. Their Applications Panel also sits approximately every four to six weeks. When we receive your application, within this period, will affect how quickly it will be reviewed by the Panels and therefore, how soon you will hear from us.

Application Fee
There is no Application Fee for seeking a membership grade. Upon successful review of your application, you will be notified and the applicable fee for your membership grade will be required to complete the designation.
