  The Institution of Fire Engineers has a long standing history of setting the professional standards and testing components for fire officers in many countries of established membership.  The Institution of Fire Engineers Canada Branch has played a strong roll here in Canada as a review body for the CFO Designation on behalf of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs.  As such, the Institution of Fire Engineers has been able to streamline the process for individuals with the CFO Designation into a Graduate Level Membership with the Institution of Fire Engineers.  The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs has recently moved to an Executive Chief Fire Officer (ECFO) program which continues on the recognition of a Fire Officer's achievements.  See more on the new program here.  The CAFC Program has changed, but the benefits of holding either a CFO or ECFO designation continue to be a major benchmark in the achievements of our membership.

  Obtaining your ECFO Designation is a sign of your relevant training and experience and lines up with the requirements and expectations of the Graduate Level Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers, making the review process straightforward and appealing to Chief Fire Officers.

  Providing proof of your ECFO Designation, a resume and a completed application form are all that is required to begin the process.  Many of our members have come through this route and many more continue to apply and obtain their Corporate Grade and Membership.
