This unique learning opportunity will guide attendees through the process and requirements for Fire Safety testing of Upholstered furniture and fabrics including the differences between open flame, smoldering, and component level testing. In addition, this session will provide a “Live” test of various test methods being performed on products. This valuable understanding will better prepare both Building Owners and Fire Services with unique insight into the testing methods.

Understand the Current Fire Codes for Ontario and Beyond
Presented by: Russell Fraser, Intertek
This informative session will review the current fire code requirements for upholstered furniture and fabrics in Ontario with a focus on Commercial and Residential Building Lobbies. The presentation will provide insight into the regulatory landscape for the rest of Canada as well as requirement changes and brief history of changes to date. Beyond the regulatory requirements today, we will provide an overview of the different perspectives on fire safety vs. FR Chemicals and how this is creating more confusion for both Building Owners and Property Managers and Fire Departments.
