Unmanned Aerial Vehicles;
The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly of New Technology
With the newest of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle technology becoming increasingly accessible, Fire and Emergency Services are now looking to adopt the technology as a front line aid to their responses. As with most new technology - managers and municipalities must now determine not only the cost benefits of these tools, but also the liabilities and legalities of having these devices on line.
Join us as we bring together experts from the Fire Service, Police Service, Transport Canada, and the Private Security Sector to discuss 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of this New Technology".
Mr. Kim Nielsen, Kingston Fire Department - Successes, challenges, and vital information from the recently launched UAV Program in Kingston.
Acting Deputy Chief Richard Stubbings, Toronto Police Services - Rick is the lead for the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police on the use of drones for policing in Ontario.
Mr. Robert Gillespie, Transport Canada - Robert is the technical team lead for flight operations with Transport Canada and provides an overview of current licensing requirements as well as a look ahead at trending concerns, challenges and best practices for strengthening your UAV program.
Mr. Michael White, Michael White Group - The use of UAV technology in physical security with a look at the hazardous tasks of security protection and risk mitigation.
Mr. Brian Davey - The International President of the Institution of Fire Engineers joins us for some international insight on UAV and the fire service and what the IFE is working on across the globe.
***The live demonstration as planned will not occur due to conflict with air traffic from Pearson Airport.
